Guiding Group Workshop
Rome, 27-28 April, 2015
The Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GA), Guiding Group meet for two days in FAO, Rome, from the 27 to the 28 of April, 2015, to promote a reflection process that could lead to the strengthening of the conceptual approach, the consolidation of its technical and operational functioning and the development of a business plan. A great deal of talking and discussing occurred, with two full days dedicated to this process. There is a clear commitment and engagement of the Multi-Stakeholder Platform (MSP) that leads the path forward for the GA. The MSP Cali governance agreement will be implemented starting from September 2015. There will be an amendment with the incorporation of the 7th Cluster, which will be formally endorsed at the next meeting. Much has been done already (planning and establishing processes), and there is an interest in analyzing the deliverables from the Focus Areas (FAs). These will be showcased in the next MSP, and will help to capture, evaluate and determine the follow-up actions required. In addition, communication, advocacy and content development are areas to improve. The GA strategy will be closely connected to the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). An action plan for the GA will be developed, and the first draft will be presented by June 2015. It will cover the aforementioned areas from above in the Action Plan.
