Proposals: Concrete Action under the Global Agenda 29 Aug 2012 - Dear Members of the Global Agenda of Action Multi-stakeholder Platform (MSP),
The Agenda’s Interim Preparatory Committee (IPC) will be meeting in the FAO headquarters in Rome on 18 and 19 September, to clarify the Agenda and Secretariat functions plus the associated governance options, that will need to be developed further prior to the next MSP scheduled to be held in Nairobi in the third week of January 2013.
Another objective of the IPC meeting will be to arrive at a prioritized list of opportunities / suggestions for concrete action under the Agenda that can be further developed between the IPC and the next MSP. To that effect, we are canvassing you, as members of the MSP, to help us identify such opportunities.
The outline proposals should , at least, adhere to the following criteria: (i) be consistent with the functions, scope, and nature of the Agenda; (ii) fall under at least one of the selected focus areas (iii) involve multiple stakeholders; (iii) lead to practice changing concrete (multi-stakeholder) action; and (iv) have significant potential for environmental, social and economic impact.
A selected short-list of concrete action proposals will be taken forward to a workshop in October/November which will bring together the key actors required for their further development and operationalization, as well as resource persons with significant practical experience in the implementation of multi-stakeholder projects. The outcomes of this workshop will further the development of modularized practice changing action proposals and the on-the-ground partnerships required for their implementation.
