Global Dairy and GHG Emissions
Global milk production has increased by 30% since 2005, especially in low-and-middle income regions. While dairy farming has become more efficient with emissions per unit of milk falling by 11%, total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the dairy sector have increased between 2005 and 2015. Through the work of initiatives such as the Global Dairy Platform (GDP) and Dairy Sustainability Framework (DSF) - partners of the Global Agenda - the sector is committed to continuously seek ways to reduce GHG emissions while delivering safe and nutritious dairy products. The Food and Agriculture Organization is presenting analyses over a 10-year time period today at COP24. More information can be found in the FACTSHEET. A report will be published soon.
