GASL Side Event at COP25

The Global Agenda successfully organized a SIDE EVENT together with FAO at COP25 in Madrid entitled “Synergies in sustainable livestock and climate change, addressing co-benefits and partnerships”. Moderated by CATIE’s Director General Muhammad Ibrahim, it illustrated how climate action in the livestock sector generates multiple benefits through partnerships. Examples from Kenya, Uruguay, Costa Rica, the Chaco region, France, and others showed an array of approaches and multi-stakeholder action leading to more sustainability in the livestock sector. The examples focused on science-based approaches in forage breeding, animal breeding, grassland management and in improved animal husbandry practices. The event was a good example of GASL's work and the value, multistakeholder action in the livestock sector can add to achieve the SDGs of the UN Agenda 2030. (12 December 2019)
