World Horse Welfare joins the Global Agenda

World Horse Welfare is an international NGO that has been improving the lives of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules for 90 years through capacity building, policy influence and front line work with equine-owning communities in need. Active in 17 countries across four continents, World Horse Welfare works with horses, horse owners, NGOs, international institutions, universities and governments to address the root causes of equine health and welfare problems using a practical, evidence-based approach. A particular focus of its work is improving the welfare – and so productivity - of the world’s 100 million working equids which sustain the livelihoods of around 600 million people worldwide in the developing world and beyond. Through community-based and global partnerships in countries dependent on sustainable ‘horse power,’ World Horse Welfare helps to fulfil the SDGs to reduce poverty and hunger, promote economic growth, increase resilience, help provide quality education and clean water, ensure food security, empower women, and promote responsible production and consumption.
